Pradhan's entry into music started
at the age of 18 when he and a group of friend began performing extensively at
small gigs around the valley. "I don't remember any note worthy musical
experience from my early childhood." he says, although his uncle used to
play tapes full of his own singing. Influenced to a great extend by musicians
and bands like Eric Clapton bad company and guns and roses, it was natural for his competition to be inclined towards the rock genre.
It was only in 1997; however,
that Pradhan debuted in Nepali music industry with the single bhaigo uni
jawun. back then, mainstream
rock music in Nepal although burgeoning, was still struggling to find a commercial foothold and the single didn't do too well. Later in the same year, he released
his first album bhedetaar KO chautari, which he claims would not
have been possible without the support of his friends.
"I had very little idea
about the basics of how to complete an album and take it to an audience,"
says Pradhan candidly.
The album was mainly
comprised of recordings. of his live performance. And 15 years down the line,
his fans are still waiting for the re-release of the same album, which Pradhan has vowed to do sometime in the future.
According to Pradhan the
musician of his generation has set a bigger platform for the future generation
to engage in. the evolution of technology has also heralded new ways of
recording music and musicians are equipped with better quality instrument.
currently, he is working on
radio and TV commercials is also directing a movie slated for release next
year.
