Montreal, Quebec (September 10, 2012) – SolidGoldFX is excited to announce the release of their
new and improved Stutterbox optical tremolo pedal. The Stutterbox is a fresh design combining
an all-analog tremolo relying on a light source and photocell to create it’s mesmerizing and
throbbing effect reminiscent of our favorite vintage tube amps, with a powerful tap tempo
controller. Multiple speed controls, various waveforms, inspired rhythmic modes and an
adjustable output section make this a great sounding and versatile pedal.
A number of key features set the Stutterbox apart. To start, the Stutterbox is equipped with
SGFX’s proprietary tap tempo microprocessor. As such, the tremolo rate can be set using the
speed knob, controlled by expression pedal, or tapped in via the tap foot-switch for greater
accuracy. The pedal also features a tap multiplier with 1x, 2x, and 4x multiplier settings.
Three distinct waveform settings, including sine, square, and sweep settings, along with eight
different rhythmic patterns and accents via the Mode knob offer an infinite number of tonal
textures and possibilities. The sine and square wave settings deliver both soft and hard tremolo
tones while the sweep setting delivers a choppy yet rounded effect much like you would expect
from a tube driven trem.
Finally, the Stutterbox is fitted with Tone and Gain controls to dial in just the right amount
of texture and output. A standard 2.1mm 9-18vDC input jack is provided and true bypass
switching rounds out the package. Our goal was to build a natural sounding tremolo with
innovative new features.
The Stutterbox is available for $239.
